Over the years I developed specific daily action steps and a detailed?follow-up system designed to enhance the relationships that can be made with new and existing clients. These action steps have produced exceptional results. At one point in time, I was averaging fifty referrals per month, a volume that did not go unnoticed by sales associates and business partners. This led to mentoring sales associates within my own company, and holding lunch seminars with business relationships to help their sales forces create?new opportunities. Those individuals mentored started to see results, and more and more business owners wanted to set up lunch appointments to speak to their sales teams as well. Very readable and enjoyable... Hope hospitals "get it" before I need one as a patient!

I "read" the audio version... very well done. Well written, just the right mix of theory and stories, and for the audio version, the reader was excellent.

And I find this book hopeful... as a physician with 30+ years in medicine, I have a grave fear of the time when I become a ward of the medical-industrial complex. In general, it is not patient-centric, nor in some cases, imbued with much common sense. This is a sad reality. This book wont fix all that ails us, but the ideas presented, and the spirit contained therein, are a great start.

This book is getting a little long in the tooth now...but if youre a hospital exec looking to get a better handle on your customer satisfaction / net promotor scores, it is essential in my opinion. Its a great reminder of the "early days" of customer sat in healthcare, and really sets the groundwork for things like Value Based Purchasing.

The book is a good read, easy and fast. It is written in a conversational tone and gives great, specific examples. It can be ACTED UPON quickly. I enjoy reading it.

However, Im now finding that its easier for me to "read" business books via audiobook. Great way to spend my time in the car. The conversational tone of this book really lends itself to the audio format. The narrator is the author, Fred Lee. Hes good at conveying the meaning of his book and overall is good. Occasionally, he trips over words and his voice is not exactly "radio star" quality. And the music that leads in and out of each chapter is AWFUL. But these are minor complaints compared to the value I get from having these discs.

The audience for this product is tiny...but if youre in that audience, you NEED this (either CDs, book or both). Its time well-spent helping to refocus on what TRULY makes your customers (patients) loyal and satisfied.

Being in the medical career, I am always on the lookout for good ideas dealing with customer service. I didnt know what to expect with this book. The author presents some good material. I was just thinking it might be a bit more entertaining, but it still presents some great information that anyone can learn from

The Six Senses of Successful Filmmakers

Sight. Smell. Sound. Taste. Touch. Vision. Wait, what was that last one?

Simone Bartesaghi, a professional filmmaker and author of The Director’s Six Senses, approaches filmmaking with the concept that, “You are a director 24/7. You should always have your ‘director’s senses’ alert.” To Bartesaghi, these senses are akin to “Spider-Senses.” The purpose of this directing guide is to provide filmmakers with the steps they need to complete their projects.

The Director’s Six Senses takes the reader on a journey to discover how their senses can affect their projects. He uses stills from TV shows and movies such as “Friday Night Lights” and “The Matrix.” These frames help to illustrate the concepts Bartesaghi describes.

Sight becomes visual storytelling. Bartesaghi urges directors only to pay attention to what happens on the screen. “While you’re shooting, you’ll be distracted by many things that are happening around you…they’ll be a daily distraction. But when the camera is rolling…enter into your own zone and focus…”

Touch is production design. “What information can I provide the audience without even showing the protagonist?” Bartesaghi believes that a person’s identity is reflected through his purchases and how he treats his belongings. If the director chooses the correct accessories to complement a person’s space, the audience can learn who someone is without—or before—actually seeing them. Bartesaghi uses the film “Rear Window” as an example. Jimmy Stewart is a photographer. This can be ascertained by the camera and magazines featuring his photographs. His leg is in a cast. He broke it because he got too close to a race car in order to get a good shot.

Hearing is, obviously, sound and music. Music stimulates responses. Different sounds resonate with different emotions. A director must select the perfect tracks to accompany the action.

For Bartesaghi, the sense of smell refers to directing actors. Directors must know “how to smell a lie (bad performance).” Movies are fiction. But the reason people keep going to see them is that they’re made believable by movie magic. “If what happens on the screen doesn’t feel right, if the behavior of the characters seems forced, then we snap out of the movie and the whole immersive experience is gone.”

Taste is style exploration. “Taste is how you feel about what is or isn’t beautiful.” A director must hone his or her own taste for what the audiences would like to see on the big screen.

Vision is the director’s inspiration. “Whether or not you believe that a sixth sense does actually exist in nature, trust me when I tell you that it exists in filmmaking.” Bartesaghi urges directors to follow his three-step method to discover the vision behind the picture.

“A director’s senses must be always alert.” And Bartesaghi will help filmmakers achieve their goals and tune in to the power of their six senses.

Very helpful!! A must read for all African Americans!!

If I could give this book more stars, I WOULD!!! Ive read different excerpts from this book on Facebook and I decided to purchase it for myself. I enjoyed the fact that the author wrote not only about the history that he researched, but the fact that it is based on his personal experiences as well. It is comforting to learn that we have to power to shift our paradigm without the use of medications. The author included a simple survey that helped me understand my own health decisions through my food choices and why I need a change. Ive considered a plant-based diet for some time now and this book has certainly reassured me that this is the best decision for me. I appreciated the different menu examples and recipes included. I highly recommend this book!!

Shifting Your Paradigm for Optimum Health and Longevity discusses the need for a paradigm shift in the lives of African Americans as it relates to their health and well-being. The book focuses particular attention on Soul Food and the Standard American Diet (SAD) and offers much data to explain how Soul Food and the SAD have contributed to alarming incidences of heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes and infectious diseases in the African American community.

I was especially impressed also with Dr. Craigs discussion of the historical and cultural roots of African eating habits (Chapter 1) and of his dispelling of the MYTHS about how much protein we really need in our diet. Im in complete agreement with his promotion of a Plant-Based Diet, the " New Soul Food" as he calls it and was most impressed the Menus in this book and the variety of Recipes he presents to help us make the transition to a Plant-Based diet.

I was also pleased to learn via his Twitter account (https://twitter.com/OPTIMUMPARADIGM) that Dr. Craig practices what he preaches in that hes been a Vegan for 40 years and serves as a living example of optimum health and well-being. If you want to get a good understanding and critical analysis of how the foods consumed by African Americans affect their overall health, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually, this is the book to read. I highly recommend it!

We are what we say and at times the problem is we say too much, and listen not enough. So choosing the right word to respond is imperative in today’s existence but what you must also note is that the key to success is listening to what is being said. Not only listening to the words that come from all around you but the word of God being spoken directly to you regardless of what you doing.

Joyce Meyer writes in POWER WORDS about all the ways we can empower ourselves with the teachings from the bible and listening to the word of the Lord. She understands how to convey her message in concise and uncomplicated means so that all readers can grasp how spreading the Word is never the wrong action to take. However, you need to understand what you are saying and here is where Ms. Meyer explains how to take your knowledge and share the wealth and bounty that we have all been bestowed with.

Anne L. Boedecker, PhD has been a psychologist and GLBTQQI ally and advocate for over 30 years. She practices in central New Hampshire, seeing clients from all of northern New England. As a gender specialist, she searched in vain for a book to give her clients who were considering a gender transition. Realizing that she could write such a reference herself by drawing on many years of experience working with and guiding clients through this process, she published The Transgender Guidebook: Keys to a Successful Transition. Following many requests for a more practical workbook she has now written two companion volumes, The Transgender Workbooks.

Nice, but not quite what I expected.

This is what it says - a work book. Not quite as good as I imagined it when I read her other book (The Transgender Guidebook: Keys to a Successful Transition), but it is a nice book for those that thrive on lists and details.
