About the Author
Daniel Fletcher is a native Texan who lived and trained in Japan from 2001-2008. He studied Budo (combat), Shurikenjutsu (throwing weapons), Kyudo (samurai archery), Satsuma Biwa (the samurai lute) and Horimono (traditional Japanese tattooing).

OUSTANDING BOOK, GREAT INTRODUCTION TO SHURIKENJUTSU

There is basically no one in America who has the experience in shurikenjutsu that Danny Fletcher has, this book is a must buy. As someone who owns basically every book on shurikenjutsu ever written I can say this is one of two English language books worth buying, the other being Shuriken-do by Shirakami Ikkuken. The author is an expert on Japanese martial arts and culture with experiences no other authors who have tried to cash in on the hype of the shuriken can come close to. Danny has not only trained in the Bujinkan and learned the shurikenjutsu of Togakure ryu, which is covered greatly in this book, but has gained the knowledge of the use of a huge variety of shuriken from other ryu-ha through his study with Otsuka sensei of the Meifu Shinkage Ryu, one of the few extant shurikenjutsu ryu. This book will teach you the use of basically all forms of shuriken from senban, to jujiken, to bo shuriken and even the use of obscure items like the matsubagata of iga ryu. Also covered is the use of shuriken in shokenjutsu (use of shuriken as a handheld weapon in close combat), as well as sword forms with shuriken. You will be able to study the basic kata of Meifu Shinage Ryu, and hopefully seek out a dojo to train this art and understand its higher level teachings. This book is a must have for ANYONE who is interested in REAL NINJUTSU and REAL SHURIKENJUTSU.

A comprehensive textbook for Shuriken jutsu, a must-have!

As a long time student of Shuriken jutsu, I can honestly say that Daniel Fletchers book is the most accurate and comprehensive work on the subject that I have seen. He takes you through not only the basics, but also the more advanced throws in a way that makes them very accessible to everyone from the first timer to the experienced martial artist. His explanations and demonstrations show the real combat aspects of Shuriken jutsu that most people never get to see... its not just trying to hit a target, theres a lot more to it.
The DVD was a totally unexpected surprise. Its one thing to see martial arts books showing still pictures and word descriptions of techniques (even really good books like this one), its another all together to be able to see these different things in action. The DVD is easily worth 3 times the price of the book alone; This book is WAY under priced.
Not only do you get to see the Author expertly demonstrating the techniques and concepts, but you also get to see Otsuka sensei, current Grand master of the Meifu Shinkage ryu Shuriken jutsu school throwing different types of blades.
One thing missing from the book is mention that there is now a branch of the Meifu Shinkage ryu in America. Its located in California at www(dot)california-msr(dot)com.

If you have even a passing interest in pointy things from Japan, this book is an absolute must-have. I have made it mandatory reading for all of my Shuriken jutsu students... it makes my job a lot easier.

One of the best books I have read

I am not a usual fantasy or sci-fi reader, but a friend convinced me to read The Star of the Guardians series. In fact, the only fantasy I had read before this were The Lord of the Rings. I became addicted to The Star of the Guardians as soon as I picked them up! Kings Sacrifice stuck out in my mind as the best one in the series though (I cried more than I did in Gone With the Wind and The Man in the Iron Mask(the book) combined). The best part about this book was the inexorable destinies of Lady Maigrey and Lord Sagan, and their romantic interactions with one another. Now dont get me wrong! It isnt all mush, it is very quick-paced! The mush just got to me the most. The only thing about this book is that the writing is good, but not excellent like Ray Bradbury or Margaret Atwood...in other words, its not what you might call a contemporary classic. From a well read person, I think you would like it.

King Sacrafice will move you!

Kings Sacrafice takes us back to the galaxy with Dion, Sagan and Maigrey. This novel picks up right where the prequel lets off......it is high paced, and leaves you on the edge of your seat. Scenes with Abdiel are very intense, and entertaining. I loved this novel due to the influx of new intriguing characters. See who will finally control the galaxy! Will it be Dion? Or Sagan? Or Maigrey? Or a combination of all three?

It will move even the most iron-hearted reader!!!!

This book, which was intended to be the conclusion of the Star of the Guardians series, is just about as different from the usual mass-marketable science fiction as you can get. Not only will you be alternatively mesmerized, horrified and deliriously excited by the graphic action, but your heart will truly go out to the main characters. You will marvel at their choices, rejoice at the outcomes or mourne their fates... do not think you will escape the conclusion dry-eyed.
And at the end, like the legions of Margaret Weis fans, you will also want to raise a bloodsword to the courage of Lady Maigrey, Lord Sagan and Dion Starfire!!
